Warwickshire Therapy

Who am?

My Story

I have worked in the charity sector for 15 years and currently volunteer for a number of charities. Warwickshire Therapy has been my dream since 2010 when I started the first day of the level 2 course. Underpinning my psychotherapy work is the Person-Centred Approach. I chose this approach because it focuses on our potential to grow. Being able to provide the right conditions for my clients to grow into the people they want to be is something I am very passionate about.

I believe that in order to be the best counsellor possible I needed to start with myself as a client, looking at my own issues, dealing with features from my past and making me emotionally available to see clients. Because of this I have attended personal therapy myself which has allowed me to see first hand the advantages of therapy. This doesn’t mean I wasn’t terrified the first time I walked through those doors. The corner stone of the Person-Centred Approach is about achieving your potential, whatever you decide that is. So, to achieve my full potential, I’m still actively learning, attending personal therapy, engaging in regular supervision and continuous professional development (CPD), which currently includes couples therapy training.

My literature review at University focused on the effects of Stillbirth, miscarriage and abortion from the perspective of a father. For my BA Top up I will be undertaking a research project focusing on this demographic of clients.
